Mooloolaba Christmas Boat Parade

The Mooloolaba Yacht Club invites you to the Mooloolaba Christmas Boat Parade on Saturday the 10th of December from 7pm. Boats of every size and shape will be in the Parade in 2022! Join in by entering your boat (private or commercial), house or building in the Parade, or by grabbing a spot along the canals to watch with family and friends, cheering on the boats from your Christmas-dressed yard or balcony. Probus Club of Currimundi Combined Monthly Meeting

The Probus Club of Currimundi invites seniors and retirees to come along to our monthly meeting to get to know some of our friendly members over morning tea and to find out more about the many activities on offer in this lively club. Meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month at Caloundra Indoor Bowls Club, Burke Street, Golden Beach at 9.30am. Other activities include lunches and dinners, coffee & Chat mornings, BBQ Breakfasts at the beach, trips, Craft, Book Club, walking group, tennis and other outings.

Montville Carols on The Green

You are invited to the Montville Carols on The Green on Wednesday the 14th of December from 6pm till 8pm. BYO Picnic to the Village Green at 143 Main St Montville from 6 pm with the Carols due to begin at 7 pm. There will be free glow sticks, games and prizes for the kids! Plus there’ll be Special Guests too including BOOMER! the Christmas Kangaroo & The Salvation Army Big Band! Come decked out in your best Aussie Christmas outfit for the chance to win the best-dressed prize.

Burnside Community Carols & Twilight Markets

Come along to the Burnside Community Christmas Carols & Twilight Markets on Saturday the 17th of December from 5pm till 8pm at Hope Community Church at 86 Windsor Road, Burnside. There will be over 30 market stalls, stacks of food trucks, live entertainment, a free jumping castle and the Christmas Carols from 6.30-7.30pm. Bring a picnic rug and enjoy good food, music & markets with your community.

Christmas Feast For The Homeless

A Christmas feast for the homeless, disadvantaged and those doing it tough will be held at Maroochy Rotary Park – 36 The Esplanade Cotton Tree on Monday the 19th of December starting at 6pm. There will be roasts, salads, pasta, desserts and a wonderful array of goodies, gifts and Christmas spirit donated by a caring & dedicated team of volunteers from Hope Within Reach. Any in need are welcome to join us as we have all had a tough few years, and some have had many more than a few.

Kenilworth Transport Service

If you need to travel to Nambour, Eumundi, Yandina, Maleny, or the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, why not use the Kenilworth Transport Service to help you out? Cost is $8 return for a 4-5 Hour trip with collection at the Information Centre, or your home if it’s on the way. Bookings to be made by 2pm the day before travel at the Information Centre, Kenilworth. Trip days are as follows: Tuesday; Wednesday; Thursday. Out of Schedule trips possible with notice and driver availability. Times and drop off points are negotiable, and you’ll need to be registered before using the service.

To access the Kenilworth Community Transport Service you need to be a resident of Kenilworth, Belli Park, Cambroon, Conondale, Coolabine, Eerwah Vale, Gheerulla, Kidaman Creek or Obi Obi (or a guest of a registered resident).

Please have the following information handy when you call to make a booking:

  • date of your trip
  • your pick-up address (if not meeting at the Kenilworth Post Office)
  • approximate time you will be ready to return.

Additional trips can be organised to meet the needs of the community by arrangement with the sub-committee, subject to driver availability and passenger demand. Please provide one week’s notice where possible.

Cost

All passengers (including children*) $8, one-way or return to Nambour, Eumundi, Yandina, Maleny,

All passengers (including children*) $25, one-way or return to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

*Children aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult.

The Kenilworth Community Transport Service is run by volunteers, under the leadership of a Sub-Committee of the Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce, who hold the Operator Accreditation for the service with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Council supplies a fully insured 7-seater passenger vehicle and an allocation (of up to $2,000 to cover expenses) for the community to provide the service with volunteer drivers.

Old Phones for DV Victims

Your old mobile phone could Save a Life! Victims of domestic violence desperately need your old phone right now. Often when victims of domestic violence are considering escape, the perpetrator will confiscate their mobile phone or destroy it when they question who their partner has been talking to or texting. Likewise many who do move into safe houses, arrive with nothing but the shirt on their back.

DV Safe Phone has been established to receive, test, and GIVE your old phone to those who need it the most so they can have access to communication when they most desperately need it. You can take your old, working phone (and charger if you have it) to any King IT store in Queensland, or any Jeep Dealership in Australia, or post it to: DV Safe Phone, PO Box 1440 Mooloolaba QLD 4557. Don’t forget to clear it, delete all personal data, photos etc and set it to the factory reset.
