LIMBO – Reconciliation Week Film Event
This crime mystery brings all elements of outback Australia together in one dramatic thriller. Set in a small Australian outback town, Detective Travis Hurley arrives to investigate a 20-year-old unsolved homicide of an Aboriginal woman.
The Detective discovers a collection of unpleasant truths that highlight the intricacies of loss and injustice faced by Aboriginal Australians.

Film Watander: My Countryman
Welcome to Maleny is hosting a special screening of a new documentary film, Watander: My Countryman followed by an Q&A with the filmmakers, Jolyon Hoff and Muzafar Ali.
The film features Muzafar, a renowned Afghan photographer and former refugee, as he travels to central Australia to meet the descendants of Afghan cameleers.
Screening at Maleny Community Centre, Saturday 10 June.

An Evening with Emeritus Professor Ian Plimer
The Moving Forward Team is pleased to invite you to a public lecture by Emeritus Professor Ian Plimer, Australia’s best-known Geologist, who will speak at our next public event on Wednesday evening, 14th June 2023, 6.15pm at the Maroochydore Community Centre.
Some interesting facts about Emeritus Professor Ian Plimer:
- A new Broken Hill mineral, plimerite (ZnFe3+4(PO4)3(OH)5), was named in recognition of Professor Plimer’s contribution to Broken Hill geology.
- A ground-hunting rain-forest spider Austrotengella plimeri from the Tweed Range (NSW) has also been named in his honor

Mental Health Carers Round Table discussion
Naradell Inc, a Sunshine Coast Mental Health Carers Support Service is inviting unpaid Carers of a loved one suffering with mental ill health to a Roundtable discussion exploring the theme “What will happen to my loved one when I’m not there”, to be held in Nambour on Tuesday 4th July, at 8.45am.
Dr Dyann Ross, Senior Lecturer in Social Work at the University of the Sunshine Coast, will facilitate a Q&A Panel as well as facilitating small group discussions throughout the day.
She will conclude the session by exploring short- and long-term strategies to address the outcomes put forward by the participants.
