Clean Up for the Hatchlings
Clean-up for the Hatchlings will be held on Saturday the 29th of January at various locations from Coolum to Caloundra between 6am – 7:30am before the sun gets too hot. Following the beach clean-ups, volunteers will be welcomed to weigh and sort debris, listen to guest speakers, enjoy a free BBQ at 9 different locations along the coast.
BBQs will be hosted at the following locations; Coolum, Marcoola, Cotton Tree Park, Coopers Lookout Park Kawana, John Hotton Park Warana, Bokarina, Currimundi Lake, and Moffat Beach. Register HERE to attend one of the 18 sites for the beach clean-up and remember to check if your site is one of the 9 Thank you BBQ sites, if not check which BBQ site is allocated to your beach clean-up.
Bring along a hat and sun-safe clothes, closed in footwear and water. We’re going for a Plastic Free event (especially single-use plastics) so please bring reusable items wherever possible (eg. Water bottle, coffee cup, and gloves). We will have reusable gloves available and clean-up bags for your use at each location.
Clean up for the Hatchlings is a free event run by Sunshine Coast Council in partnership with ReefCheck Australia, Sea Shepherd, and Sea Life Sunshine Coast, inspiring the whole community to come together to help clean up Sunshine Coast beaches in preparation for the hatchling turtles.
It’s free but essential to register your preferred beach location. REGISTER HERE.
