I have always been a sucker for a good, wholesome romance; throw in some facts and cultural accuracy and you’ve caught my attention.

Key Points:

  • You’ll become immersed in the beautiful imagery that Fiona creates using her descriptions of the Aussie desert and community.
  • I loved the message of honesty, vulnerability and forgiveness; the reminder to act rather than wait, because life is short!
  • Back To Birdsville brings to life the power that comes from looking after those around you, particularly in the remote areas of the country Australia.

Fiona McArthur’s Back to Birdsville contains all this and more, as she draws on her personal experience as a rural midwife to bring this Australian Outback romance to life.

The story plunges you straight into the tiny Queensland town of Birdsville where you meet Pheobe and her father, Rusty. The love and care between them is evident however the story very quickly throws a curveball and makes you realise how fragile family can be and the importance of open, honest communication!

As you work your way through this easy-to-read novel, you will fall in love with Phoebe, Rusty, Scarlet and many more colourful characters, as well as becoming immersed in the beautiful imagery that Fiona creates using her descriptions of the Aussie desert and community.

You can almost feel the heat coming off the sand dunes, smell the wildflowers that grow along the dusty roads, and feel the excitement in the air when people gather from across the nation to partake in breaking world records (look up the Big Red Bash – it’s pretty cool!). Back To Birdsville brings to life the power that comes from looking after those around you, particularly in the remote areas of the country.

I loved the message of honesty, vulnerability and forgiveness; the reminder to act rather than wait, because life is short! And honestly, if there is an uncomplicated love story between two people who are perfect for each other and quite frankly, just too cute, then consider me a fan!

Read along, fall in love and you might even want to plan your first Outback adventure. I know I do!
