They dropped into the studio to chat with Salt 106.5’s Jordana about their success.
Despite their young age, Eli, Elijah and Tim have demonstrated remarkable entrepreneurial talent by developing a solution for those struggling to wear regular underwear over a moon boot—a problem Eli personally experienced after a BMX accident.
Their school project, “The DeLorean Project,” provided them the platform to cultivate their idea, culminating in them winning the prestigious Mayor’s Telstra Innovation Awards (MTIA).

“It all started… after Eli’s injury,” Tim said and explained that The DeLorean Project runs every Wednesday for grade ten students.
“We all get together in the classroom, and then we find a problem.
“We have to make a solution to that problem and so this helped us take Fundies off the ground.
“We came up with this prototype of having buttons instead of a zip, and then we moved on to Velcro, but that was really itchy,” Eli said of the design process.
That’s not a place where you want to be itchy! And thankfully, they found a design that worked.

“All the teachers and other mentors came in, and they kind of guided us,” Elijah said.
“They taught us everything we needed to know, how to be confident, how to write our pitches, everything we needed.”
