Captain David Donaldson, Pastor and Corps Officer, The Salvation Army Nambour caught up with Salt 106.5’s Jordana to chat about the event.
“Over the last 60 years, The Salvation Army in Australia has asked the Australian public to dig into their pockets and give us their money,” David said.
“I think we’re celebrating the Australian public in many ways, because a lot of what we do is financed or is volunteered by the Australian public.”
As an international grass roots movement, The Salvation Army is led by the needs of local communities. Whether replacing car batteries and tyres, providing housing or domestic violence support as well as a myriad other things, in David’s words, “We do our best to help.”
“We’re celebrating the Australian public… a lot of what we do is financed or volunteered by the Australian public,” David said.
“We aim to serve the least, the last, and the lost,” he said.
“We do our best to find those people within our community so they can be lifted up and we journey with them.
“That goes across the range of society from the richest to the poorest… we often all can be one of those things.”
