In 2022, over 2 million (21%) of Australian households have experienced severe food insecurity. Rising living costs and supply issues due to climate impact are contributing to families skipping meals or going whole days without eating.

In turn, charities cannot keep up with the demand for fresh fruit and vegetables, hot meals and hampers as they too struggle to cope with the sharp increase to food prices.

The Mini Farm Project are working to build a network of charity farms, from Tweed Heads to Cairns, to feed Australians in need, for free, all year round.

The Mini Farm Project’s Nick Steiner joins Salt 106.5’s Steve D to chat about how you can learn more and get involved.
