As candidates vie for 93 seats across Queensland this election, and with election day fast approaching – Saturday 31 October – it’s important to make sure your vote counts.
This year, the Electoral Commission Queensland (ECQ) has opened postal vote applications early: now until Friday 16 October 2020, to allow more time for electors to apply.
Postal votes will be sent to electors following the close of candidate nominations and ballot paper draw in mid-October. Any elector can apply for a postal vote online, by calling 1300 881 665 or by returning the form by Friday 16 October.
Need to Get Your Vote in Early?
Early voting will be available from Monday 19 October until Friday 30 October 2020. The ECQ is expanding the number and hours of operation of early voting centres across Queensland for the 2020 State General Election.
You’re invited to vote early to encourage social distancing and to be Covid-19 safe. Please remember to keep a 1.5m distance when queueing, use hand sanitiser and bring your own pen or pencil. Extra staff will be on hand for queue control to ensure social distancing. Please follow their directions for your safety.
There will be approximately 200 early voting centres at locations across Queensland, and locations are currently being finalised. Details are subject to change.
Search for your nearest early voting centre and/or polling station on the ECQ website.
