Listen: Leanne Warrner joins Mornings with Fee for The Great Gympie Duck Race
SU Queensland invites you to participate in The Great Gympie Duck Race on Saturday 13th November from 11am to1pm at the Mary River Weir. With up to 2,000 rubber ducks, in all the colours of the rainbow, racing to the finish line to raise money for chaplaincy and local schools.
Head Duckordinator Leanne Warrener chats to Mornings with Fee about this great community event, run in partnership by Cooloola Schools Combined Chaplaincy (CSCC) with local school and community groups.
“Through this event we hope to assist schools and local organisations to raise much-needed funds, whilst raising the awareness of chaplaincy in our community.” Leanne shares.
Ducks are available for purchase for only $5, and you can choose to support one or more of the 11 local schools registered for the event, who will receive half of the ticket cost. Awesome prizes for the first three ducks over the finish line have been donated by caring local businesses. There’ll be plenty of food stalls, games and entertainment from local performers to make it a fun-filled day for the whole family!
