Baringa Library has launched their Book Locker – a vending machine for books that contains food for the mind, not the body.

Salt 106.5’s Jordana is particularly excited.

“I am a huge book fan so I’m very excited to see what this looks like and to see what everyone else thinks on the coast,” she said.

This week’s launch was attended by Cr Jenny Broderick.

“We’re all very excited to officially launch the Baringa Book Locker,” she said.

“It’s the first of its kind in our region, giving you greater access and a convenient way to get your books.

How it works

The book locker is free, and available to anyone with a library membership.

Simply scan your library card, type the number in and that’s it! Your book will be delivered, much like a food vending machine.

Members are able to browse and borrow up to 160 books from a rotating collection which includes adult fiction, non-fiction, young adult fiction, junior fiction, non-fiction, toddler board books, picture books and even a jigsaw puzzle!
