Mornings with Fee caught up with 16-year-old Emily Davis, organiser of the New Wave Fest and founder, with her friend Sophie, of The Modern Generation, a youth run not-for-profit working for positive change in our community. 

“The Modern Generation is a non-profit organisation entirely run by the youth to initiate positive change in our communities. We aim to unlock the potential of our generation in being part of the solution that our world needs tomorrow,” Emily said.

New wave festival

Join Emily and her team this Saturday at the The New Wave Fest. An all-day festival, be held on the grounds of the Old Chevallum School, running from 10am until 3pm, to raise funds for the Australian Marine Conservation Society.

There will be some extremely talented musicians as well as international speakers and environmental workshops running throughout the day. Several food stalls will also be at the event. Enjoy a fun-filled day to both educate and entertain your entire family. You will have the opportunity to learn about ocean conservation and reducing our waste from experts with our information booths and volunteer lead workshops. As well as a talk series by young change-makers, sharing their passions, perspective and experiences.

Sit back and listen to sensational live music featuring some of Queensland’s most talented youth performers including a String duet, Folk band, Jazz vocals, ukulele band, musical theatre hits, concert jazz band, rock band, classical singing and so much more! Other fun activities include art galleries and a raffle. Food will also be available to purchase at the venue.
