Worldwide hunger is a devastating problem, but you can do something to change that on Salt 106.5’s Take Away Hunger Day – Thursday 24 August 2023.
The number of people without enough food to eat is racing towards one billion globally. Around 828 million people don’t have enough food to lead a healthy life – 150 million more since COVID – and children are the most vulnerable.
There are 66 million primary school aged children who are going hungry in the developing world, with 23 million in Africa alone. Poor nutrition causes nearly 45 per cent of deaths in children under five years old – every year that’s 3.1 million.
There is a solution!
On Thursday 24 August, Salt 106.5 is proudly partnering with Feed the Hungry for Take Away Hunger Day 2023.
For only $6, you can provide enough meals to feed a refugee child for a whole month via their school lunch program – for $60, you can cover the lunches of 10 hungry children for a month.
I want to Take Away Hunger for refugee children in Uganda
On Take Away Hunger Day, you will be helping kids with the urgent meal they need now while also helping them stay focused and learn in their school-based programs. Choosing between food to survive and education to thrive is not a choice. Providing a meal at school every day means they don’t have to worry about their next meal anymore.
Children can now learn, laugh, dream and play. They get back to being kids again, and they also get to hear about a God who loves them and receive hope for their future.
Take Away Hunger Day is more than a meal, it’s a full life.
Together as a community, we’re aiming to feed 2000 children in Uganda this year.
