Stories of Hope April

RESCHEDULED: Due to new Covid19 restrictions on public gatherings, the March Stories of Hope has been postponed until April. Even if you clicked the “RSVP” on the Facebook Event for March, you will need to rebook for April.

The next Stories of Hope will be held at the Sands Tavern on Tuesday the 27th of April starting at 7pm. Don’t miss this inspirational event as Jess shares about her journey out the other side of Anorexia. This disorder almost took her life at 15. Today Jess works in an industry helping children and teens at risk along with supporting their families.
Also in this month’s Stories of HOPE Australia, we will hear the miraculous story of how Tom Conwell came back from the dead.
Just like any other Friday Tom headed out for a surf. He suffered a massive heart attack and died in the water. There was also an Angel on the beach that day. Masako Gokita was one of the two people who pulled him out of the water and started CPR on the beach. Her life was also dramatically changed for good that day. Tom was dead for 8 minutes. Only 1% of people survive this kind of this event and Tom will join us at this month’s event at Sands Tavern to tell the story.

Artist Market & Fair

The Arts have always had a special relationship with the Church, and it has often commissioned the work of sculptors, painters, carpenters and many other artists throughout the years. HTK Church Bokarina holds an annual art event to encourage and recognise local artists.

This year, HTK Church is holding an Artist Market and Fair on Saturday, 26 June 2021 from 8:00am to 4:00pm at HTK Church, 11 Meridian Street, Bokarina.  All artists are invited to display and sell their art pieces at the HTK Church Artist Market and Fair.

This fair invites local artists to display their work at market stalls, where the community can view and purchase works they have created. We are hoping to attract a range of artworks, including paintings, photography, sculptures, pottery, woodwork, metalwork, jewelry and many more.

This years Artist Market and Fair will include:

  • jumping castle for the kids
  • sausage sizzle
  • tea and coffee
  • other refreshments.

If you would like to display your art at a stall, size details of stalls can be viewed on the application form which can be downloaded by clicking here. Applications close 12 June 2021.

Researching and finding everything you need to support a family member with a disability can be difficult and time-consuming. Sharon Fulwood is a mother of three children, two of whom have different disabilities. At every step of her children’s development, she has needed to research disability aids and equipment, specialty products, specialist advice and appropriate support networks for her and her children. Experiencing frustrations and a disconnect in the sector motivated Sharon to do something to help others. She has made it her mission to make it easier for Sunshine Coast families, carers and people with disabilities to find the support, services and products to help them improve their quality of life. She wanted to create an event to connect businesses and networks within the disability sector together with these families and carers. This is how the Disability Expo Sunshine Coast idea was born and has now become a reality.
