Free Breast Cancer Screening Cooroy
The BreastScreen Queensland Sunshine Coast mobile service will be on location in Opal Street Cooroy, opposite the BP Service Station from Tuesday the 19th of October through until Tuesday the 9th of November. The van will operate between 7.45am and 3.30pm eack weekday, providing free breast cancer screening for women aged 40 years and over.
BreastScreen strongly recommends that women aged 50 to 74 have a breast screen every two years. Appointments take approximately 20 minutes and doctors referrals are not required. For information or to make an appointment call 13 20 50 or visit breastscreen.qld.gov.au

Ladies, oftentimes we go through seasons where we feel alone; finding it hard to connect with others and to believe we belong. Hopefully, these seasons don’t last forever and conversation, support and friendship are just around the corner.
A new group called [email protected] Cafe is now gathering in the cafe of the Goodlife Community Center in Buderim Pines Drive on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 2pm – 3.30pm, to provide a place of belonging, where women can be seen and heard. Please join us for a coffee and catch up that might just be the beginning of that new season for you and others.

Vitality Cafe Morning Tea October
The Sunshine Coast Dementia Alliance welcomes you to a special October Vitality Cafe morning at Buderim Bowls Club, 2 Elizabeth St, Buderim on Wednesday the 27th of October, starting at 10.30am. for Carers and those living with Dementia are invited to hear from a special guest speaker from Dementia Australia. Marie-Louise Bone, the Community Development Officer for Dementia-Friendly Communities QLD.
Join us as Marie-Louise will be updating everyone on the recent forum held in Brisbane, Creating Change: Activating a Dementia Friendly Brisbane and also the wonderful work undertaken by the Sunshine Coast Dementia Alliance.
Sing for Heart and Mind
An event for those with dementia and their caregivers will be held on Wednesday the 27th of October from 2pm at the Noosa Baptist Church in Lake Weyba Drive, Noosaville. Music and singing can be of benefit to people suffering from dementia, and ‘Sing for Heart and Mind’ combines music with a chance to meet new people and have fun together.
There will be a warm welcome, vocal warm-ups, and a variety of songs to sing along to, including rounds and action songs. A light afternoon tea is also included.

Suncoast Spinners Wheelchair Basketball
Suncoast Spinners invite you to play wheelchair basketball most Wednesday nights from 6.30pm till 8.30pm at the USC Sports Stadium in University Way Sippy Downs.
This season’s matches will be played on October 27, November 3 & 24 and December 1 & 8.
Wheelchair basketball is a great fast-paced game played by two teams of five players where the objective is to shoot the ball into the opposing team’s basket. Official game matches consist of four periods of 10 minutes. Social games can either be shorter or longer, depending on the level of fun everyone is having. You don’t need to know how to play or even to have a wheelchair! Able-bodies are also encouraged to come and join in the fun, no matter what your age, from 6 to 60!

Coolum Communicators Toastmasters Meeting
Coolum Communicators Toastmasters is helping Sunny Coasters to become confident communicators, public speakers, and leaders. Toastmasters has a learn-by-doing program created to help you gain the skills needed to achieve your personal and professional goals.
Come along and meet some like-minded friendly members who are all striving to improve their communication, presentation and leadership skills. We meet at North Shore Community Centre, where there is plenty of parking, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday the 27th of October.
The November meetings will be held on Wednesday the 10th and Wednesday the 24th of November.

Micro Groms Skateboarding Lessons
Skate Aid are running skateboard lessons for micro groms ages 2-5 years on Thursday mornings at Talara Skatepark. This is an 8-week program of 30-minute lessons, every Thursday morning through until December 2nd starting at 10am at Talara Skatepark Group. The sessions are currently limited to 5 students so that enough quality time can be spent with each child.
These weekly lessons teach students life lessons through skateboarding. Skating skills, with personal social development, intrinsically woven together, to teach kids not only to skate but principles and values to equip them for life.

Listen Up Game Night Coolum
The Kindness Collective invites you to join them for a game of Listen Up with The Kindness Collective community at the Coolum Beach Hotel on Thursday the 28th of October starting at 6.30pm. This is a great chance to connect with some new mates and share some stories with this playful conversational game, guaranteed to inspire meaningful chats, heartfelt moments, and plenty of laughs!
The game will go for about 90 minutes, and then feel free to stay around afterward for some food and drinks.
Listen Up is a tabletop board game developed by The Kindness Collective that aims to inspire deeper conversations between families, friends and strangers. While encouraging depth, the game is also a playful and easy way for people to share their stories and practice vulnerability and active listening skills.
You’re welcome to come alone or come as a group. Each month there are guests of all ages coming along to play, and depending on numbers they will either join up at a large table or play on multiple tables for the game.
If you can’t make it to the September gathering, there will be another games night on Thursday the 16th of December.

Bribie Happy Golf Day
You’re invited to a Fun Golf Day Fundraiser for school chaplains on Friday the 29th of October at Pacific Harbour Golf Course on Bribie Island. It is an 18 hole, shotgun start, 4 ball ambrose competition starting at 8.30am through till 2pm. This event is a fun social day raising awareness about school chaplaincy and raising funds to support the chappies in local Bribie schools.
The entry fee is $100 per person or $400 for a team which includes lunch and a Golf Cart.

Laps For Lex Fundraiser
Alexa Leary is a sunshine coast triathlete who suffered a serious brain injury while training. Her recovery in the RBWH and the ICU has helped her and the family with rehab and now her family wants to give back to those who are going through the same thing. The family started a fundraiser called #moveforlex to give back to the RBWH. All week from the 25th to the 29th of October, come along and swim a lap at the Eumundi Pool. We will record the laps and tally them up at the end of the week. On Friday the 29th of October, all the teachers, and coaches from the Eumundi pool will swim a lap too and everyone is invited to a BBQ at 3pm.

Expect A Miracle Revival Meetings
The Potters House Sunshine Coast invites you to a series of powerful revival meetings titled ‘Expect a Miracle’ with evangelist Albert Francesca. There will be healing prayer for the sick, and anyone needing a miracle in their life.
He comes to Sunshine Coast, after preaching the gospel, all over Australia and the world seeing people healed and lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. Do you know someone who is sick, someone who is in pain, or someone who needs some hope in their lives? Encourage them to come to the Potter’s House in Buderim on Friday the 29th of October at 7pm, Saturday the 30th of October 7pm, and Sunday the 31st of October at 10:30am & 6pm.
Maleny School Chaplaincy Trail Ride
The Sunny Coast Trail Horse Riders Club invites you to participate in a guided 12km trail ride through a beautiful property at Crohamhurst just north of Peachester. Bring your horse; feed and water for your horse, a water bottle and a chair, on Saturday the 30th of October. There will be three trail rides on the day at 10am, 1pm and 3pm.
Now for those without horses, there will also be guided bushwalks at 10.15am & 12.15pm. Plus there will be horse care management and safety demonstrations, a sausage sizzle, coffee, snacks and merchandise on sale.
The cost for the trail ride is $45 which covers insurance, a snack pack and a donation for chaplaincy. No tickets will be sold on the day so be sure to pre-book now. This event is being organised for the Maleny High chaplaincy committee by the Sunny Coast Trail Horse Riders Club Inc. Bound For Glory Album Launch Concert
You are invited to a concert at the New Life Auditorium in McKenzie Rd, Woombye on Sunday the 31st of October from 3pm till 5.30pm to launch the new album, ‘Bound for Glory: The Gospel Project’. Jazz Singer Robyn Brown Robyn and band will showcase songs from the new album along with many others. Coffee shop, bar and pizza van will be available on site on the day.

‘Bound for Glory: The Gospel Project’, the latest release from Queensland jazz singer Robyn Brown, brings to life songs born out of slavery and racism. From negro spirituals to songs from Blind Willie Johnson, Sam Cooke and Sister Rosetta Tharpe, this project explores some of the gospel themes in early blues and jazz. Robyn, with some of Queensland’s finest jazz musicians, brings a modern jazz approach to songs from the 1800s to the early 1900s.
Free Swing & Rockabilly Dance Lessons
A free 45 minute Dance Lesson will be held on the 1st & 3rd Monday night of each month in the lower hall of the Woombye School of Arts Hall.
These free introductory lessons include Slow Swing and Rockabilly and will provide the essentials of the styles to prepare you to join our regular Monday night lessons.
As a slower style, Swing is a perfect option for those who have never danced before and the FREE Swing lesson runs on the first Monday night of the month (excluding public holidays) from 7pm (Arrive at 6:45pm and bring a partner as there will be no class rotation).
Rockabilly is the perfect option for those who like pumping music and want to get moving and the FREE Rockabilly lesson runs on the third Monday night of the month (excluding public holidays) from 8pm (Arrive at 7:45pm and bring a partner as there will be no class rotation).

Caloundra Jobs Fair
Are you looking for work in Caloundra? Come along to one of the free sessions at the Caloundra Jobs Fair on Wednesday the 3rd of November at the Events Centre in Caloundra.
– Session one: 9:30 am to 12:00 pm
– Session two: 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
The Caloundra Jobs Fair is a great opportunity for you to talk with local employers about their current job vacancies and get hints and tips from expert presenters in our free workshops. Don’t forget to have your résumé ready on a USB so you can print it out and give to potential employers or apply online at the event.
To make sure we keep the event COVID-safe, we’ll be holding two sessions across the day and applying additional cleaning measures which will be outlined in the registration information. A shuttle bus service will also be available. Check the Website for locations and further information.

Buderim View Club Luncheon November

Attending our club’s events will help raise funds for The Smith Family, helping the education of students from underprivileged families. Currently, the Club sponsors seven Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.
Our function room is at the very centrally located Buderim Tavern. At our luncheon meetings we always have interesting guest speakers. New members are very welcome. Attending our club’s events will help raise funds for educating students of underprivileged families. The luncheon cost is $30.
Also on the third Wednesday each month, we have a social activity/outing. Buderim VIEW Club (Voice Interests & Education of Women) was formed in 1993.
Crafty Arts Auction for Crisis Accommodation
The Zonta Club of Caboolture is hosting an online auction of fine photographic prints and hand-crafted toys and jewellery to provide emergency accommodation for victims of domestic violence in the Caboolture area. Sadly Caboolture has the highest rates of domestic violence in Queensland and the Zonta Club is fundraising for the Caboolture Ministers Network who manages a project, operated by the Caboolture Community Action Group to provide accommodation to women and children in crisis.

MOPS Gathering (Mother’s of Pre-Schoolers)
We invite you to share some mum time with us, including informative discussions, some crafts and friendship. This group is for Mothers to be and Mothers with children from birth to Kindy age. MOPS is held every second Friday, during school term. Childcare is available during meetings: an experienced team of volunteers (with blue cards) will happily be doing children’s activities in the room next door. Join us and share the highs and lows of parenting, the joy of sharing and giving this meeting.
Join us for the next gathering at Lifepointe Baptist Church on Friday the 5th of November starting at 9.15am. We will be putting a little time into blessing the mothers of Lily House with small gestures.

The Board Meeting Charity Surf Event
Bookings are now open for team entries in this year’s surf competition to be held at Kawana Surf Club, Pacific Boulevard, Buddina on Saturday the 6th of November starting at 6am. The presentations will be held at 12noon plus there will be a charity auction and a raffle with 100% of proceeds going to local kids with disabilities.
Entry $500 per team of 4 surfers including gift pack and beer.

Collectorama Antique Fair
Collectorama is back! The mammoth fair featuring antiques, collectables, vintage memorabilia, art & hobby ceramics and more will be held from 7am till 2pm on Saturday the 6th of November at Nambour Showgrounds 80 Coronation Avenue, Nambour.
A treasure hunter’s dream, this event is sure to delight you with its treasure troves of antiques, vintage and retro items. You never know what you will find!

Barely Worn Sunshine Coast holds a pre-loved clothes market at the Coolum Civic Centre to recycle clothing and support slow fashion. Quality pre-loved womens, mens & kids clothes are available in a variety of sizes. Come along and be part of the circular economy and help to reduce landfill. There are around 30 stalls with a variety of sizes available if you’d like to book a spot and it’s a great indoor location so you don’t have to worry about the weather.

The Sunshine Coast Arts and Crafts Group is holding its Christmas Fair on the weekend of the 6th &7th of November at the Montville Village Hall. Starting at 9:00 through till 3pm both days, the fair is always popular and a great opportunity for members of the art group to showcase their art and craft skills to the public.
The Sunshine Coast Arts and Crafts Group has been supporting local craftspeople for 38 years and the sale of these beautifully handmade items allows this community group to continue to function. The major raffle will be drawn on the Sunday afternoon, giving you the chance to win 2 nights staying in luxury accommodation in Montville, as well as vouchers & other great handmade items. An onsite café serving yummy treats is the perfect accompaniment for a morning’s Christmas gift shopping.

Coolum Communicators Open Night
Coolum Communicators will showcase the Art of Public Speaking in an open night to be held at the North Shore Community Centre, 701 David Low Way Mudjimba on Wednesday the 10th of November starting at 6.45pm.
Most of us learn our communication skills on the fly. Have you ever wished there was a better way to learn? Effective communication is vital in every aspect of life – at work, university, job interviews and in our personal lives. Coolum Communicators Toastmasters Club is opening its doors for you to join them in a free open night to discover the art of confident public speaking. At this free open night, you will experience what Toastmasters is all about! If you want to better develop your communication skills as a speaker, presenter, or learn to talk on the fly, Toastmasters could be for you.

BreastScreen Van Beerwah
The BreastScreen Queensland mobile service will be at Beerwah Community Hall from the 11th of November to the 10th of December, providing free breast cancer screening for women 40 years and over. Regular screening every two years is recommended for women aged 50 to 74. Appointments are available weekdays between 7.45am and 3.30pm.

Arts & Crafts Xmas Fair Caloundra
The members of the Caloundra Arts Centre Association have been extremely busy, creating many unique quality goods; including pottery, embroidered items, quilts, lace, handmade cards and jewellery, plus a range of children’s wear, baby wear and assorted bags.
Come along to the Caloundra Arts Centre at 5 North Street Caloundra over the weekend of the 13th and 14th of November and support your local community. You’ll find a perfect assortment of Christmas gifts or purchase some genuine locally, hand-made products for yourself.
There’ll also be a cake and produce stall with lots of home-made goodies including sweets, slices, jams and cakes which are extremely popular and sell out very quickly plus there’ll also be stalls with plants, pre-loved books and magazines.
Refreshments including delicious, fresh homemade sandwiches and scones are available too. There’s plenty of onsite parking available and entry is FREE!
Great Gympie Duck Race
NB: With the Mary River catchment areas receiving so much rain over the past week and more possibly forecast, this means the river is quite high and unsafe to get into the water for our Duck Wranglers with debris and fast-flowing water so the Great Gympie Duck Race has been moved to Saturday the 13th of November. Same time same place.
SU Queensland invites you to participate in The Great Gympie Duck Race on Saturday the 13th of November from 11am to 1pm at the Mary River Weir with access via the Kidd Bridge.
There will be up to 2,000 rubber ducks, in all the colours of the rainbow, racing to the finish line to raise money for chaplaincy and local schools. Ducks are available for purchase for only $5. You can choose from 11 local schools, which will receive half of the ticket cost. Awesome prizes for the first three ducks over the finish line have been donated by caring local businesses. There’ll be plenty of food stalls, games and entertainment from local performers to make it a fun-filled day for the whole family!

Rip City Dinner & Trivia Night
Rip City is excited to host the second, of what we hope to make a monthly social event for the club! Join us for dinner and some trivia fun in the USC Stadium function room on Saturday the 13th of November starting at 7pm. Come as an individual and join a table for the night or get a group of friends and book a table of six.
Start the evening with an arrival drink of your choice from the bar included in the ticket price. Dinner will be served between 7:15pm and 7:30pm. As you finish your meal we will kick off the trivia competition around 8:00 pm, pitting table against the table in a battle of general and often useless knowledge.

Sunshine Coast Collective Markets isn’t just your average market….. it is a modern-day treasure hunt! A collective of local Sunshine Coast designers, musicians, artists, foodies, creators, vintage wares and lifestyle lovers. No mass-produced or cheap imported products will be found here!!!
The intention of the market is to create a true ‘local’ market that showcases to the community and visitors the amazing talent we have here on the Sunshine Coast. Those visiting will enjoy the relaxed Sunday vibe, amazing coffee, amazing street food, a carefully edited lineup of stalls and live music from local musicians.
The Sunshine Coast Collective Markets are held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at Coolum Primary School in Barns Lane from 8am till 12noon.
And pop-up markets are held at the Alex Headlands Skate Park on some Saturdays during the school holidays from 7am till 12noon.

Monthly Sunday Social Paddle
The Kindness Collective hosts a relaxed Sunday morning social paddle on the Maroochy River each month and you’re invited to join them. You can bring your own board or paddle craft or there are also SUP boards available to hire nearby.
They meet at the pier at Cotton Tree Park at 8am for a 90-minute paddle wherever the conditions best allow. Sometimes that’s a paddle up through the mangroves to Goat Island, or maybe upstream to Sunshine Plaza, or perhaps even Pincushion Island. This social paddle is more than just exercise, it’s an opportunity for community connection so bring the family or just come yourself and make some new friends.
