Free Breast Cancer Screening Cooroy

BreastScreen Queensland mobile service is providing free breast cancer screening at Opal Street Cooroy from 19 October to 6 November 2020. Every breast screen is one-on-one with a female health professional, no referral is required, and it only takes 30 minutes. A breast screen every two years is a must for women aged 50 to 74. Women aged 40 to 49, and 75 years can also attend this free service. Call 13 20 50 or visit the BreastScreen website to make an appointment.

Early Voting Centres QLD State Elections

Early voting will be available from Monday, 19 October until Friday, 30 October 2020. The ECQ is expanding the number and hours of operation of early voting centres across Queensland for the 2020 State general election. You are invited to vote early to encourage social distancing and to be Covid19 safe. Please remember to keep 1.5-metre distance when queueing, use hand santiser and bring your own pen or pencil. Extra staff will be on hand for queue control to ensure social distancing. Please follow their directions for your safety.

Most early voting centres will be open from Monday, 19 October from:

Little House of Hope Op Shop Buderim

The Little House of Hope Op Shop operates at the Buderim Uniting Church on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8.30am – 4.00pm and some Saturdays from 9.00am – 12.00.

Patrons will be able to buy good quality clothes for all age groups, as well as jewellery, footwear and some linen, kitchen and crockery items. If you have good quality new or second-hand items you would like to donate, especially clothing and accessories feel free to drop them into the shop on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

All monies raised through the Little House of Hope Op Shop go to support the Chaplaincy Program and various Youth and Families projects within the community.

For more than 15 years STEPS Nursey has provided a place for students, volunteers, and people with a disability to build their work experience, learn new skills, socialise, and develop their ability to work as part of a team. We also offer a space where individuals can come and simply enjoy the health and well-being benefits of gardening.

Alpha Course Kawana or Online

Come along to the Alpha Course in person or follow along online! It will be held at Kawana Waters Uniting Church in Bokarina on Friday nights from 6.30pm till 8.00pm from the 2nd of October through until the 11th of December 2020.

What is ALPHA? Well, have you ever asked: “Is there more to life than this?” This is one of the big questions that the ALPHA programme covers. the night starts with a short film to kick start a meaty discussion about meaningful issues and spiritual matters, and then we discuss it in small groups.

Sunshine Coast Pickleball Caloundra

The Sunshine Coast Pickleball Club will kick off a new beginner’s competition on Sunday the 1st November 2020 at the Caloundra Indoor Sports Stadium in North Street Golden Beach. There will be 2 sessions with the first from 8.30am-10.30am and the second session will be 11.00-1.00pm.

Pickleball is a low-impact paddle sport you can learn in minutes and play for a lifetime. It brings together elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong to create a sport that’s fun for all ages and skill levels, but gets fast-paced and exhilarating at competitive levels.

  • It’s a racquet sport that’s a combination of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.
  • It’s played using paddles with short handles and a plastic ball with perforations
  • A game typically lasts 15 minutes, depending on the rally
  • It’s a low impact sport, suitable for a range of ages, from 9 to 90
  • Caloundra Indoor Stadium has the most pickleball courts of any club in Queensland

If you join the Sunshine Coast Pickleball Club the session cost for members is $10.00 for 2 hours and the non-member cost will be $15.00.
To join the club membership is $60.00 per year so you can go to the Website and follow the prompts and you can become a member.

People are encouraged to go onto Meetup and register for either the 8.30am or the 11am session on November 1st to secure their place.

Maleny Pioneer Precinct Open Day

The Maleny Historical Society, the Blackall Range Horseless Carriage Club, and the Maleny Men’s Shed are combining to showcase their precinct on Bryce Lane, Maleny. on Saturday the 14th of November from 8am through till 3pm.

Kenilworth Transport Service

If you need to travel to Nambour, Eumundi, Yandina, Maleny, or the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, why not use the Kenilworth Transport Service to help you out? Cost is $8 return for a 4-5 Hour trip with collection at the Information Centre, or your home if it’s on the way. Bookings to be made by 2pm the day before travel at the Information Centre, Kenilworth. Trip days are as follows: Tuesday; Wednesday; Thursday. Out of Schedule trips possible with notice and driver availability. Times and drop off points are negotiable, and you’ll need to be registered before using the service.

To access the Kenilworth Community Transport Service you need to be a resident of Kenilworth, Belli Park, Cambroon, Conondale, Coolabine, Eerwah Vale, Gheerulla, Kidaman Creek or Obi Obi (or a guest of a registered resident).

The Kenilworth Community Transport Service is run by volunteers, under the leadership of a Sub-Committee of the Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce, who hold the Operator Accreditation for the service with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Council supplies a fully insured 7-seater passenger vehicle and an allocation (of up to $2,000 to cover expenses) for the community to provide the service with volunteer drivers.

Netfest 2020 Sunshine Coast

Since 2010 netballers have been coming from all over to get amongst the beach tournaments, classic outdoor matches and Fast5 Netball comps at dusk. The live music, netball all-star matches and fruity beach cocktails. It’s the world’s biggest outdoor netball festival and it’s what we like to call – NetFest.

NetFest will be celebrating its 10th year on Australia’s Sunshine Coast over 4 big days from Thursday the 26th till Sunday the 29th of November with four days of sand, sun and friendly competition.
